The Young Members’ Community (YMC) of the Insurance Institute of London (IIL) represents the future of the London insurance and financial services market – encompassing insurers, reinsurers, brokers, Lloyd’s, the LMA and the legal and financial services professions.
A message from our Chair:
Hello, I’m Valtter Lehtonen – Chair of the IIL YMC. I currently work for Marsh in the Corporate Sales team, targeting new business in the retail, manufacturing and technology sectors.
I first got involved with the YMC when I moved to London in 2021, as I thought it would be a great way to build my network across the market and to learn more about the industry. I quickly saw the value of these events and it inspired me to get more involved.
Since joining, I’ve had the pleasure of working with passionate professionals from diverse walks of life in the insurance industry – from Underwriting and Broking to Claims, Insurtech, and Legal. Each of us brings something unique to the table, and together we aim to create events that will support young professionals in their development and careers.
As Chair, I’m excited to continue growing the YMC’s reach across the London insurance industry. We’re committed to delivering a mix of events that cover everything from technical knowledge, leadership skills, ESG, Diversity & Inclusion, and create networking opportunities every chance that we get!
