Members' Private Evening Visit to the College of Arms
Proving incredibly popular last year, we once again invite members to join us for an exclusive evening at the College of Arms – the official heraldic authority for the United Kingdom, responsible for the granting of coats of arms, flags and ceremonial symbols.
Located in a 17th-century building on Queen Victoria Street, the College is a unique City institution with archives going back to the 14th century.
Our visit will be led by the Somerset Herald - Mark Scott - who will regale the group with the history of heraldry, the ceremonial role of the heralds, and the architecture of the building while guests enjoy a glass of wine or soft drink. There will be an opportunity to explore the records in the historic archive, before mingling over more drinks and a buffet supper with fellow members.
The visit will conclude at approximately 8:45pm
Why you should attend:
-
Access a hidden gem: Explore a unique national institution, located in the heart of the City and not normally open to members of the public
-
Discover heraldry: Learn about coats of arms and the heralds role in important ceremonial state occasions
-
Connect with peers: Enjoy drinks, supper and a conversation with others in the industry
