Pensions during significant change: Protecting your future when life hurts -Session 2 of 3

IIL Pension Webinar Series: The second of three pensions webinars delivered by Alina Burlacu. In this second session, she explores how significant life changes affect pensions and how people can protect long-term security during periods of emotional and financial disruption.
Significant life changes - such as divorce, bereavement, redundancy or serious illness - often arrive without warning and place people under intense emotional strain. At the same time, critical financial decisions are frequently required, particularly around pensions.
This session addresses what happens to pensions when life is hurting the most. It explores the most common pitfalls during periods of shock, grief, or transition and highlights opportunities to protect long-term income and independence. Delivered through a blend of financial education, coaching and mentoring, the session provides clarity without pressure. It helps participants reduce the noise, understand what matters now, and take grounded, practical steps forward - even when thinking clearly feels difficult.
Learning objectives:
-
Understand how significant life changes can impact pension outcomes
-
Identify common mistakes made when decisions are taken under emotional stress
-
