  • Aviation & Space

In this IIL aviation webinar, Bart Banino discusses the increase in damage awards in the United States and some of the factors underpinning this trend.

In recent years there has been an increase in higher-than-expected verdicts, sometimes called "nuclear verdicts." These jury verdicts are being driven both by new strategies and tactics employed by plaintiffs’ lawyers, as well as societal attitudes toward corporations and their responsibility for accidents.

This presentation includes a discussion of various real-world case examples, as well as tips on how to manage litigation and minimize the risk of such outsized verdicts.

Learning objectives:

  • Examination of the factors that are contributing to an increase in damage awards in U.S. litigation
  • Discussion of recent cases and verdicts
  • Tips for managing litigation to decrease the risk of such verdicts
