Cyber & Technology: issues you should be thinking about
In this IIL reinsurance lecture Sir John Scarlett offered his view on what were the main cyber & technology issues insurers should be thinking about.
He began by looking at the cost of cyber crime in contrast to the cyber insurance premiums and then looked at the threat using recent cases as examples. Sir John then considered where the threat may be coming from before concluding on who may be at risk. In the lecture, Sir John covered cyber security developments - state, criminal, other threats, including terrorism. He also looked at the threats to city infrastructure and difficulty of data management.
By the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into:
- Global security developments
- Cyber security developments
- Threat from terrorism
- Threats to city infrastructure, difficulty of data management
Speakers Bio:
Sir John Scarlett served as Chief of the British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS or MI6) from 2004-2009. Current roles include Senior Advisor at Morgan Stanley, Advisor to Swiss Re Insurance, Chairman of the Strategy Advisory Council at Statoil and Chairman of SC Strategy Limited.
