Roman London Walking Tour - Legions, Temples & Timber

London is a modern city, but how did it start? Join us for a walking tour of Roman London to explore its ancient beginnings!
Founded in 43 AD by soldiers and merchants, the ancient Roman city of Londinium is nestled beneath our feet and tucked away in secret corners, hidden in plain sight.
We will take a tour led by historian and official City of London guide Anne Fletcher to bring Roman London to life. On our journey through ancient history, we will see the Roman wall (which pops up in the most unexpected places) and find out what life was like for citizens of Londinium as we walk in their footsteps where the forum and basilica once stood. En route, you’ll hear about a forgotten river, essential to life in Roman Londinium, and discover the strange Temple of Mithras where secretive worship took place!
This event will be a great way to connect with fellow members in a relaxed environment.
The tour will be followed by an optional drink – a chance to continue the conversation and make new connections - at The Candlemaker Bar on Cannon Street (not included in the ticket price).
Start time/place:
4:00pm – Tower Hill Station
End time/place:
