Inclusion & Diversity
Hands – Diversity And Inclusion

In this IIL inclusion and diversity webinar, Edward Grant, Sam Westaway, Sam Daruvala, and Beth Kume-Holland provide an overview of the progress of the insurance and financial services markets in advancing disability inclusion.

The insurance market has made significant progress in advancing inclusion and diversity over recent years, creating a more diverse and equitable industry that looks to attract and retain the best people. In this session, Eddie Grant will provide an update on his role as Disability Ambassador and discuss how he believes the market can work more collectively towards a common goal.

July is Disability Pride month. Sam Westaway and Sam Daruvala will provide a brief overview of the Disability Pride movement and how it aligns with iDAWN - Insurance Disability, Ability and Wellbeing Network - and other organisations' goals of advancing a more inclusive market. They will introduce Beth at Patchwork Hub, who will provide guidance on the disability pay gap and offer practical solutions and suggestions for attracting and retaining disabled talent. This discussion will also include insights into workplace adjustments, to be followed up with the circulation of iDAWN's published Intro to Workplace Adjustments guide.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the current challenges of I&D within the market (sharing rates, disability pay gap reporting, etc) and the organisational support available (Disability Ambassador & iDAWN)

  • Provide an overview of the challenges around recruiting and retaining disabled talent, and provide information and resources for individuals and companies to create a more inclusive hiring process and working environment

  • Call for support from the market to keep progressing inclusion and work more collaboratively as a profession
