Banks and Leasing 101 on aviation

In this IIL aviation webinar, Kate Fitzpatrick provides a practical introduction to aviation insurance, aircraft leasing and the way risk is allocated between airlines, lessors, financiers and insurers.

This webinar explains the central role of aircraft leasing within the global airline industry. It considers why airlines lease aircraft, how common lease structures work and how the leasing ecosystem connects airlines, lessors, financiers and other market participants.

The session also outlines the principal insurance covers purchased by airlines, the key participants in the aviation insurance market and the routes through which cover is placed. It then examines how insurance obligations and risk are transferred under an aircraft lease, the protections required by lessors and financiers, and the additional insurance lessors may purchase for their own account.
