The evolution of insurance fraud and the steps being taken to tackle it
In this IIL cyber webinar, Scott Clayton and Jon Radford talk about insurance fraud, a persistent challenge within the industry for many years. Spanning multiple product lines, fraudulent actors seek opportunities to fabricate or overstate claims for financial benefit. These activities range from isolated incidents by opportunists to organised schemes conducted by professional criminals. As a result, the industry must continuously develop and implement robust measures to address evolving threats.
In this session, the speakers, who have extensive experience in counter fraud, will provide examples of fraudulent activities occurring in various sectors. They will illustrate how technological developments are being used to facilitate more convincing false claims, and they will discuss the industry's responses to these challenges, both at the individual level and collectively through organisations such as the Insurance Fraud Bureau.
Learning objectives:
- The impact and scale of insurance fraud
- The advances in technology from both sides
- The power of a collective response
