Reinsurance renewals: A calm after the storm
In this IIL Reinsurance webinar, Laurent Rousseau provides a review of the 1st January 2024 reinsurance renewals, explaining how market conditions have evolved since the prior year, and sharing his expectations for the year ahead.
The 1st January 2024 reinsurance renewals demonstrated how much could (and could not) change in the space of a year. In this session, the speaker tracks the market's evolution following a tumultuous 2023. Order replaced chaos in the 1st January 2024 renewals, with all sides working to avoid the dramatic rate rises, increasing attachment points and tightening terms and conditions that had characterised the prior year. Accordingly, we ask whether the market has achieved a mutually sustainable balance, and if so, how long it might last. Given the unpredictable economic, geopolitical and natural environment, we consider whether it is reasonable to expect a market cycle comparable to its predecessors.
