Media production insurance: an introduction

In this IIL accident webinar, Emma Vorster and Julie Abbott talk about the bespoke coverage available for film and television productions. They discuss why it is needed, the coverage offered, the role of Health and Safety as well as the evolution of the industry, and emerging risks.
Many productions have contractual obligations and need to be protected from related financial exposure. Each production is unique, meaning insurance needs to be tailored to suit each client’s precise requirements.
Delays to the filming schedule can result in significantly increased costs and technical equipment, props, sets and wardrobe are key assets and need to be protected against theft or damage.
Media production insurance is a flexible package policy providing cover from pre-production, through to filming, until completion of post-production.
Learning objectives:
- Why insurance is needed and what it covers
- The role of on-set Health and Safety protocols
- Evolution of the industry in the UK and impact of Covid
- Emerging risks
