How financial lives in the UK are changing: what it means for each of us & our profession
In this IIL London Market lecture Jane Portas drew on the CII report 'Securing the financial future of the next generation'. She considered trends in British people's risks in life and how this impacts all of our financial resilience.
Jane's lecture highlighted Moments that Matter to men's and women's financial lives; what we can all do to help, both at home and at work, as well as how firms can support their employees' financial wellbeing and customers' financial outcomes. This benefits diversity and inclusion, talent retention, business performance and public trust.
This lecture is relevant to everyone in the profession who is interested in how our financial lives are changing, and how this affects people, the workplace and the impact on our society and economy. Importantly, this lecture emphasises what we can do individually and as a profession to improve our own financial resilience, enhance business and inspire change.

Speaker Bio:
Jane Portas is a Partner at PwC with 30 years' experience of advising international insurance businesses on prudential and conduct regulation, risk management, related strategic business change and group structure optimisation. She has also held various regulatory policy and supervision roles, both directly at the UK regulator, and more widely advising international regulators. Jane leads PwC's Brexit services for Insurance as well as the firm's approach to financial inclusion. She has authored various reports on financial risks in life including 'Securing the financial future of the next generation' for the CII.
