Tuesday 21 November 2017, 1:15 pm - 2:00 pm
The Old Library, Lloyd's
Linden Holliday, CEO, MyDrive Solutions
Casualty

In this IIL accident lecture Linden discussed in detail the relationship between macro trends, insurance telematics, the wider use of data and technology and IoT. Additionally, he examined the current application of telematics, as well as the future use of technology in risk management.

Linden explained that insurance has entered digitalisation late and, given that digitalisation was key in disrupting and transforming several industries, a risk exists that the same will happen with insurance. The lecture also discussed trends that will affect this journey and summarised the current use of data and technology in insurance with the intention of providing an honest account and forecast. Briefly, Lindsen also looked at the wider application of IoT discussed in the context of connected homes, e-health and ultimately, insurance and risk management.

By the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into:

  • Telematics in practice: how is telematics changing motor insurance
  • Analysing big data: the challenges and rewards
  • Property, e-health and life from risk transfer to risk mitigation
