One year on: Reflections from the COVID Actuaries Response Group

Online event
Monday, 17 May 2021
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)
    • Panel discussion, COVID Actuaries Response Group
  • Casualty

In this IIL accident webinar, we examined how, as the world was on the brink of the COVID-19 global crisis, a group of concerned actuaries, epidemiologists and longevity specialists came together to pool their expertise to create well over 100 bulletins which have helped guide our country’s leaders on the measures required to tackle the pandemic.

The COVID Actuaries Response Group got together because, instinctively the members knew that the world was going to face a crisis of epic proportions. Over the last year, their work has been quoted by Professor Chris Whitty, England’s Chief Medical Officer, among others, in press briefings on vaccines.

By the end of this webinar members would have gained an insight into:

  • The rapid response to the pandemic that the group has achieved
  • The central philosophies of the group that have enabled its success
  • How the group’s approach could be used in response to other challenges

Panel:

Matthew Edwards, Actuary and Director, Willis Towers Watson

Joseph Lu, Director of Longevity Science, Legal and General

Nicola Oliver, Director of Life and Science, Medical Intelligence

Adrian Pinington, Director, TSAP Consulting
