Pollution & contamination from a property investors insurance perspective

The Old Library, Lloyd's
Thursday, 08 March 2018
1:15 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)
    • Alan Grayston, Assistant Vice President - Environmental Impairment Liability, Liberty Specialty Markets
  • Real Estate

In this IIL property investors lecture Alan Grayston talked about the issues relating to contamination and liability in property transactions and insurance solutions for property investors.

Property investors move in an often fast paced and dynamic environment requiring the co-ordination of multiple parties, and to tight timelines. Environmental issues are often left as one of the last negotiation points that can lead to delay of deal or friction between the buyer and vendor. The UK has a long and varied industrial past that has left a potential legacy and possible liability to today's property investor.

How can a property investor make the right decisions, to provide adequate protection to a balance sheet and smooth the transaction process?

By the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into:

  • Potential environmental issues and liabilities associated with property investing
  • Environmental Due Diligence
  • Solutions and the role of specific environmental insurance for individual transactions and property portfolio's
