Cyber witchcraft: Is cyber warfare based on deception?
In this IIL cyber and technology webinar, Anton Angione gives an overview of the historical context of the cyber threat landscape and the key threat actors. Cyber threats are evolving at a dizzying speed. This webinar aims to arm participants with a proactive cyber resilience mindset.
This session starts with an examination of the approaches taken by cyber threat actors and considers what these reveal about their psychology, applying this to today’s cyber threat landscape. Catastrophic cyber loss events, including NotPetya, SolarWinds, WannaCry, the Equifax Breach, and Viasat have demonstrated the cost of unpreparedness. The speaker explores these events and examines the lessons the cybersecurity industry can draw from them.
The generative AI genie is out of the bottle, and cyber threat actors continue to find innovative ways to compromise their targets. Participants will walk through case studies drawn from Anton’s practical experience in responding to and investigating the cause of cyber breaches. In closing, Anton provides guidance on how individuals and organisations can implement robust, proactive cybersecurity posture.
Learning objectives:
- Understand the historical context of the cyber threat landscape globally and what this reveals about the key threat actors
- Review recent developments in the cyber security space, including the impact of generative AI
- Consider what lessons have not been learnt, despite previous catastrophic cyber events
- Become more proactive in preventing cyber security breaches
This session will not be recorded, so a playback/slides will not be available for members who do not attend the live event.
