In this IIL London Market lecture Commissioner Ian Dyson talked about the growing and changing threats of cyber crime, what it means to businesses and individuals and how we can better protect ourselves against the threats.

Ian explained that the City of London Police has a national responsibility to tackle fraud and cyber enabled fraud in the UK. In his presentation, Ian outlined the work that the police force does; firstly, in law enforcement and in partnership with other stakeholders and secondly, to discuss steps that businesses and individuals can take to prove their own resilience to cyber crime.

By the end of this lecture members will have gained an insight into:

  • Major cyber crime threats facing the UK
  • Why businesses and individuals are vulnerable to cyber crime
  • How businesses and individuals can help protect themselves

Speakers Bio:
Ian has been a police officer for 34 years and Commissioner for the City of London Police since January 2016. He worked in the Metropolitan Police from 1983-2008, and Surrey Police from 2008-2010, leading the policing of significant Public order event, crime reduction and organizational change.

Registration & Security

CPD events are open to CII and PFS members
Registration closes at 12pm two working days before the event date
For events held in The Old Library, Lloyd's pass holders may also attend and do not need to register
Original Photo ID (Driving Licence, Passport, Work ID with company logo and full name) is required to gain entry to all venues


  • Email confirmations and original photo ID must be produced to security staff at the lecture venue
  • Attendance confirmations are non-transferable to any other person or lecture
  • All venues have limited capacity and registration and/or a Lloyd's pass does not guarantee admission
