In this IIL accident lecture Trevor Maynard talked about emerging risks as a source of insurance innovation.

The lecture started with some examples of innovation and concluded there are key ingredients for successful disruptive change. Various mega-trends were highlighted as these provide the backdrop to the near-future. A short description of the current horizon scanning process at Lloyd's was given and then various key emerging risks were presented along with some tools that have been developed to explore them.

By the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into:

  • The importance of innovation in the insurance market
  • Some key emerging risks that will have important insurance consequences
  • Various methodologies for assessing the risks

Speakers Bio:
Trevor Maynard is Head of Innovation at Lloyd's of London. His responsibilities include running the horizon scanning unit to identify and carry out research into Emerging Risks that may affect the Lloyd's market.

CPD events are open to CII and PFS members
Registration closes at 12pm two working days before the event date
For events held in The Old Library, Lloyd's pass holders may also attend and do not need to register
Original Photo ID (Driving Licence, Passport, Work ID with company logo and full name) is required to gain entry to all venues

  • Email confirmations and original photo ID must be produced to security staff at the lecture venue
  • Attendance confirmations are non-transferable to any other person or lecture
  • All venues have limited capacity and registration and/or a Lloyd's pass does not guarantee admission
