12:00 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)
    • Charlotte Greenbank, Alzheimer's Society Isle of Man
    • Claire Whitelegg, Senior Manager, Isle of Man Financial Services Authority

In recent years the treatment of vulnerable clients has become a growing priority both for business and regulators.

The UK Financial Conduct Authority Financial Lives Survey conducted in 2017 showed that 50% of UK adults display one or more characteristics of being potentially vulnerable based on their health, financial resilience and on life events that could have a detrimental impact on them.

At the session Claire will provide an update on the IOMFSA’s thinking on the treatment of vulnerable clients; this will be complemented by a Dementia Friends Information session led by Charlotte.

By the end of this session, attendees will:

  • Understand more about dementia and ways in which to build a dementia friendly community
  • Gain an insight into the regulatory expectations for the treatment of vulnerable clients
  • Better understand:-
    • What constitutes vulnerability and how to recognise clients in vulnerable circumstances
    • The difference between transient and permanent vulnerability
    • Best practice for practitioners
    • Case studies

The event will qualify for 2 hours CPD and is free to members of the CII/PFS and £20 for all non-members.
