Visit to G's

This all day (6 hour) visit to G's gave a behind the scenes look at their operations. G's supplies customers and consumers across the UK, Europe and North America with a wide range of crop vegetables. G's supplies all sectors of the food industry with quality fresh produce, which ranges from own-label salads and vegetables for supermarket customers across Europe, to G's brand product for the independent wholesale, food service and food manufacturing sectors.

The visit was be hosted by G's, commenced at Barway and included visits to a number of different crop sites in the area. The aim of the visit was to demonstrate how a modern UK agricultural producer operates and the insurance aspects related to that.

During the visit attendees observed how G's implement its objective of sustainable intensification of its farms while combining biodiversity and farming to ensure higher yields with a lower impact on the environment. The visit looked at how insurance contributes to this with reference to what coverage is needed and provided examples and explanations of typical insurance claims.

During the visit members would have gained an insight into:

• Operations at G's
• An understanding of the insurance related issues that face a UK farming producer
• An understanding of how insurance protects or reduces the risk of these issues

All presentations included a Q&A session. Refreshments including lunch was provided.

This visit will involve walking through fields and climbing flights of stairs and may therefore be unsuitable for those with mobility issues. Appropriate clothing & footwear will be required.

Attendees will be required to make their own travel arrangements to/from Ely Railway Station. Transport will be provided to/from the station to G's. Please note that there is extremely limited public parking available on site and attendees are asked to travel by train.

Places on visits are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

A fee will be charged for all visits. Visit fees are non-refunded if cancelled.
