We are delighted to announce the return of the North East Regional Forum flagship event, taking place on Thursday 9 October 2025 at the Novotel, Leeds city centre.

The day offers an excellent chance to gain fresh perspectives, connect with industry leaders and peers and stay ahead in a rapidly evolving profession.

This year’s theme, “The Evolving Workplace in the 21st Century”, will explore the changing landscape of work and its impact on professionals in the insurance and financial services profession. Join us for a day of thought-provoking discussions, interactive sessions, and valuable networking opportunities.

We are pleased to share details of our speakers and some of the sessions. More details will be revealed soon.

  • Matthew Hill - CEO, Chartered Insurance Institute
  • Jenny Wright - Regional Partnerships Manager, Money & Pensions Service
  • Louise Turner - HR Consultant and Mental Health First Aid Instructor
  • Prof. Jo Clarke - Founder & Director, Petros
  • Guest Keynote Speaker ex-Leeds Rhino's player Jamie Peacock MBE, who will share insights on developing a lifelong learning mindset

Workplace trauma, millennials, and the law in the 21st century: A perfect organisational storm? Profesor Jo Clarke
In this session Jo considers how changes in workforce demographics, access to information, and knowledge about trauma suggest that the way organisations comply with their legal duty of care to employees needs to be gold standard if they are to avoid hefty (and often indefensible) claims.

Are businesses ready for the future of work? Louise Turner
This session considers how the employment landscape has undergone significant transformation in recent years, driven by technological advancements, shifts in work culture, and changing employee expectations. Understanding what the modern employee needs and wants is crucial for organisations aiming to attract, retain, and engage top talent. However, it is no longer enough to simply ‘move with the times’, successful organisations will be the ones who anticipate and predict the changes which are coming and in doing so stay ahead of the curve.

Developing a Lifelong Learning Mindset
Jamie Peacock MBE
Regularly described as one of the best players of his generation Jamie enjoyed a long and glittering career in the field of professional Rugby League playing with great distinction for Bradford Bulls, Leeds Rhinos, England and Great Britain. By the time he reached the end of his playing career Jamie had become the most decorated player of the Super League era.

Developing a Lifelong Learning Mindset has been identified by academics and global business leaders as a key attribute for being able to thrive and prosper in the 21st Century workplace. It is seen as vital to enable individuals to continually enhance their skills, to improve their motivation and their engagement and to stay relevant in the job market.

The cost of this event, which includes lunch and is supported and subsidised by the Insurance Institutes of the North East, is £20. This is your opportunity to gain fresh perspectives, connect with industry leaders and peers and stay ahead in a rapidly evolving profession.
