Coaching Skills for Managers

Thursday, 21 March 2024
12:00 pm – 1:15 pm (UK time)

Coaching enables managers to build the confidence of team members in areas where they are developing and learning new skills. It’s about asking the right questions to help individuals identify what they already know, what they can already do… and guiding them to find solutions for acquiring new knowledge or ways of working.

This interactive session will provide tools and techniques for coaching and put into context how flexing your delivery style can produce different results tailored to the needs of each team member.

Coaching works well for a range of common scenarios where the team has:

  • a new person joining
  • reallocated some of the manager’s job responsibilities to develop a team member
  • a sudden influx of work
  • introduced new working practices

By the end of the session delegates will be able to understand:

  • What coaching is and when it can be usefully applied
  • Coaching styles e.g. when telling someone what to do maybe more appropriate than asking questions
  • How to use a coaching model
  • Why using coaching skills effectively can improve the motivation and productivity in the team
