BII members are now social media savvy

Birmingham members are now social media savvy

Birmingham Insurance Institute held a two-part social media master class for its members in June, providing advice, guidance and important tips on how to get the best out of social media in a business context.

Value Exchange's Nigel Cliffe and Luan Wise delivered 'LinkedIn - The really interesting stuff!' and 'What's the point of Twitter for the Insurance Executive?' for a full day's CPD, at the city's Rep Theatre.

Top tips, pitfalls to avoid and practical strategies for business to business networking were all on the agenda as delegates gained an insight into how to get the best from their social media profiles to maximise business potential and become a confident online networker.

The session was timely for the institute itself as it looks to progress its own social media presence, with the introduction of a 'President's Blog' to complement its LinkedIn and Twitter activity.

Birmingham Insurance Institute President Richard Scott said:

"Social media brings us closer to our members and makes us more accessible - as an institute, and as people. We want to make sure more of our members are aware of what we can offer them, and for them to take advantage!

"I believe a joined-up and engaging social media presence will help us to reach more members and in turn provide them with support and guidance that they were perhaps previously not aware of. With the learning gained from this master class, I'm confident we can lead the way with local institute social media."
