SII X NFUM: Ghost Broking

NFU Mutual Conference Room
Tuesday, 11 November 2025
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm (UK time)
    • Charlotte Brown
    • The Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB)

The insurance industry has seen a surge in ‘ghost brokers’; illegal intermediaries selling insurance policies, often to unsuspecting, vulnerable customers. Most commonly found in motor insurance and often linked to wider criminality, this type of insurance fraud is rapidly evolving. This in-person event outlines how to spot ghost broking, what we can all do about it, and crucially, how the industry is fighting back.

In this session we will cover:

1. What ghost broking is and how it affects the insurance industry

2. What to look out for to prevent and detect this type of fraud

3. What the industry is doing to respond to the evolving threat

4. The consequences of ghost broking and the role of the police
