President’s Message
Welcome to the Insurance Institute of Southampton.
I am truly honoured to take on the role of President for our local Institute for the forthcoming year. Your local Institute has so much to offer you and we welcome your engagement in the life of the local institute. We want you to benefit and receive the most from your membership and we are committed to ensuring that the opportunities are available to you. All you need to do is make the most of them!
We will be continuing to maintain our strong and successful CPD programme over the forthcoming year and will continue to provide a diverse CPD programme, which will cover both technical and soft skills and will provide you with further opportunities to develop and enhance your skills. You will find forthcoming events on this website and in the emails which are sent out to members who have opted in to receive these. Please opt in via your membership or you will be missing out!
Please also look out for our social and networking events which we will be offering to you over the forthcoming year. This will provide you with fantastic opportunities to network with like minded individuals and build upon your professional connections within the insurance world and all whilst having fun!
Your local CII Council is a group of dedicated volunteers who give up their time to ensure that the best opportunities are available to you via membership of the local Institute. We always enjoy hearing from our members and please feel free to contact me or any one of the Council members, whose details can be found at ‘About Us’ and ‘Contacts’ on this website, at any time. If you are interested in becoming more involved with your local CII or even joining us on Council, please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you.
In summary, my areas of focus for the 2023 / 2024 year are:

encouraging engagement – this will allow you to get the most from your membership.

enhancing communications and encouraging new membership – your local Institute has many benefits to offer you and it is important that you are aware of what is available. We will also be reaching out to local businesses to encourage engagement and looking to increase our membership numbers so that the fantastic opportunities which we have to offer are available more widely. This will also diversify our membership which is important to us.

attracting new talent to the industry and keeping that talent – there will be further focus on young professionals and next generation and we will also be reaching out to local schools to promote all that the industry has to offer.
I hope to see you at one of our CPD and / or networking events and / or at our annual dinner which is being held on 15 September 2023 at The Concorde Club in Eastleigh and which will be a fun and enjoyable evening. Please do come and say hello.
