President's Message

Warmest Welcome to The Insurance Institute of Perth and Dundee!

I’m honoured to serve as your President and to represent such a vibrant professional community.

It’s a privilege to work alongside a fantastic Council team, all of whom volunteer their time and expertise to support our members across the insurance and financial services sectors. Whether you’re studying for qualifications, seeking professional development, or simply looking to connect with peers in the industry, we're here for you. I encourage you to follow us on LinkedIn to keep up-to-date with our upcoming webinars, Fast Track Programme, workshops, and social events.

In my role in Risk and Governance at Aviva Insurance, I’m particularly passionate about promoting a culture of resilience, responsibility, and continuous learning. This year, I aim to build on the excellent work of our outgoing President, Daley Smith, by continuing to enhance the involvement of PFS members and ensuring a balanced and engaging CPD programme that meets the needs of both CII and PFS professionals. I also look forward to introducing more content with a risk management focus—an area that is increasingly vital in today’s evolving landscape.

Community inclusion is at the heart of my presidency. We're proudly supporting Meningitis Now  as one of our chosen charities this year, and alongside our various Institute events, I’ll be lacing up my trainers and running to raise awareness and funds. You can follow my journey and support the cause via my JustGiving page: Ruth Glynn is fundraising for Meningitis Now.

We’re also committed to nurturing future talent by working closely with local universities, schools and colleges to inspire the next generation to pursue rewarding careers in our industry. Further, I'm delighted to share that we'll be continuing to support members across Scotland through the efforts of our Past President and current Treasurer, Charlotte Gunnion of Marsh Commercial. Charlotte is leading the co-ordination of cohort learning for the Certificate and Diploma-level qualifications, with valued support from the Worshipful Company of Insurers- helping members stay motivated, connected, and on track to smash their learning goals.

If there's anything I can do to support your professional development, or if you're interested in getting involved with the Institute, please don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to meeting you at one of our events soon!

Ruth
