    • Andrew Greenway, Project Development Champion, ANDYSMANCLUB

We invite you to join us for this online event for anyone wanting to understand more about mental health so you can spread the word and be there to signpost friends, family members, colleagues (anyone really..!) if it is ever needed.

This presentation will take you through the story of ANDYSMANCLUB and is designed to challenge the stigma surrounding Men’s Mental Health, show just how important it is for men to have a safe space to speak openly about their troubles and most importantly, to save lives.

ANDYSMANCLUB takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23 in early 2016. Andy’s family had no inkling that he was suffering or struggling to the extent that he would do this, and as a result looked deeper into male suicide and men’s mental health. They soon discovered that male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50, with Male Mental Health surrounded by well-ingrained cultural stigma in the UK. Elaine Roberts and Luke Ambler are Andy’s Mum and Brother-in-Law, together they came up with the idea of ANDYSMANCLUB, a group where men aged 18 and above can speak openly about their mental health in a judgement-free, non-clinical environment.

Their service is used on a weekly basis by over 2100 men, and an army of over 700 volunteers on board, the ANDYSMANCLUB movement is continuing to grow on a week by week basis (faster than anyone involved could have ever imagined) with 110 clubs currently in operation nationwide across the UK.
