The missed opportunity on business leads - how UK employment trends are changing
During the last twenty years there has never been more changes in employment trends in the UK - yet in many cases the insurance industry has been slow to change. This presentation will point out the business opportunities that have arisen due to these changing trends and why they have often been missed.
Small business numbers have increased by 2.2 million since 2000! Many more people are now working from home, many more people are now giving advice, many immigrant groups have arrived to provide valuable skills - the demand for commercial insurance products has changed dramatically, but in many cases the policies and sales processes offered are still stuck in the last century! The insurance industry has often been slow to respond to changes in demand and this presentation looks at how employment practices have changed and will continue to change dramatically, and how brokers could increase remuneration if they start amending their processes to make them line up more accurately with the needs of the changing employment sector. The FCA estimate that 40% of SME's are under insured and at the end of 2024 around 80% did not have any cyber cover at all. There will be stacks of interesting facts and figures in this presentation that will get intermediaries and insurers thinking about whether they are making the most of the business opportunities brought about by changing employment trends within the UK.

How to set correct Commercial property, stock and contents sums insured
It is estimated that at least 60% of policies have incorrect sums insured! This presentation looks at the major issue of under insurance in the UK property market and why sums insured are often so wrong.
The presentation, delivered by Alan Chandler one of the UK's most popular insurance presenters, will look at what clients actually need to take into account when settling Buildings, Contents and Stock sums insured. Alan will explore why under insurance is so common, the effects of under insurance for the client, and why under insurance is an increasing cause of Professional Indemnity claims against brokers.
One of the problems is that the figures on the client’s balance sheet are not the same as those required for insurance purposes and Alan will point out the differences so that clients can be warned.

The Rise of Errors and Omission Claims Against Brokers and how these can be mitigated
This presentation will explore why the number of errors and omission claims against brokers are on the increase and how these can potentially be mitigated.
Ask a Pi solicitor which Pi claims are the easiest to deal with, and they nearly always say broker Pi claims because you just must settle! – brokers time and again fail to professionally train staff and record key things in a correct manner, meaning that when these claims go to court there is often no defence.
Various new pieces of legislation including the brokers' duty under the Insurance Act 2015, GDPR and the Insurance Distribution Directive are making brokers more vulnerable than ever, which coupled with increased litigation in society, increased client expectations and ever higher regulatory demands mean that brokers cannot continue to do what they have always done, far more proactivity is required.
Alan Chandler who is widely regarded as one of the leading trainers and presenters within the UK will provide a number of examples of how the tide of litigation is turning against insurance brokers, and what they need to do to mitigate their E&O risks
