Meet the Council - Amy Godson

Having joined Gallagher in August 2023, Amy has been in insurance for just 4 months and is already getting stuck in to extra curricular activities. Amy recently joined CII Leicester and is already part of our Education Committee, and is soon due to take on the Next Generation Chair role.

Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?

A: I wanted to be a professional show jumper because I’d always loved horses.

Q: Was a career in insurance a; Conscious choice or wonderful accident?

A: A choice! My university offered a trip to insurance broker’s office which sparked my interest. My dad is also in the insurance industry, and seeing his success encouraged me to join insurance.

Q: How long have you been in insurance?

A: I have been in insurance for 4 months. I joined straight after graduating in my business management degree.

Q:What attracted you to join CII Leicester?

A: I was attracted to join as I knew the other members of the council were very knowledgeable people who I could learn so much from, in terms of insurance, professionalism, and integrity. Additionally, I’ve always enjoyed doing volunteer work, so what better place to volunteer and give back to my industry!

Q: What are the positives of joining CII Leicester?

A: The positives are endless, especially for someone new to the industry such as myself. I have had the opportunity to meet a number of experienced professionals who are more than willing to lend their expertise and support to myself. It’s a great opportunity to put forward any ideas for the local institute with confidence that I will be listened to. Additionally, I can have an input regarding the local events and webinars put on.

Q: Where is the coolest place you travelled?

A: Australia! I love visiting my family there, but the scenery, weather and people are unmatched.

Q: What skill would you most like to learn?

A: I’d love to learn how to ski as it looks great fun.

Q: If you were stuck on a desert island, what 3 items would you take?

A: My vape, an iced coffee, and my kindle.

Q: What is your favourite cocktail?

A: A pornstar martini, of course!

Q: What movie could you quote by heart?

A: Clueless (1995)
