Deputy President 2025/2026: Dave Hamer

Dear Members,

I am delighted to announce that our new President, Yasmin Van Der Veen, has appointed me as her Deputy President for the upcoming year.

My journey with the Council began in 2021 when I attended a highly successful Annual Dinner. Following some engaging conversations with local Council members, I was invited to attend their next meeting—and from that moment, I was inspired and committed. I found a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to giving back, and it quickly became a valuable outlet for my many ideas and aspirations, while also fostering my personal growth.

This year, Yasmin’s theme of inclusion resonates deeply with me. As a gay, neurodiverse individual, I have personally experienced the challenges of navigating this industry. I am genuinely excited about the initiatives we have planned and the opportunity to promote a more inclusive and supportive environment for all. Our world is vibrant with diverse colours, perspectives, and experiences—let’s celebrate and amplify these voices together.

If we can make even one person’s journey a little easier, I will consider it a great success.

I am confident that this year will be our most impactful yet, and I look forward to working closely alongside Yasmin to make it so. I hope to see many of you at the numerous events planned throughout the year.
