Your Institute Needs You!

We are a dedicated group of insurance and financial planning industry professionals that voluntarily host CPD and networking events in the local area. We’re looking to expand our council in numbers to allow existing officers the chance to rotate roles and try something a little different.

Have you ever thought about supporting your local institute as a council volunteer? Maybe it’s time to consider how you can make a difference. We’re always looking for new points of view and encourage ideas of what our institute members will find useful.

Council positions require some commitment, but offer surprisingly big benefits, whether through the reward of helping others, the opportunity to network with senior figures from the profession or the personal experience you gain. Perhaps you are part of a smaller firm and want to encourage participation of your colleagues in local industry events. Why not use YOUR experience to help shape our local offering or guide and encourage those new to our industry?

If you can spare few hours a month to help, please get in touch now by contacting ipswichinstitute@cii.co.uk.

If you’d like to find out a little more before making a decision, we’d be happy to chat over coffee; get in touch with one of your local council volunteers – visit www.cii.co.uk/ipswich where you will find more information about what we do.

Education Secretary x 2

We’re looking to split the existing education secretary role into two, in order to focus on two streams – CII and PFS. The idea here is to work to provide a more suitable range of CPD sessions for our PFS members, alongside a comprehensive insurance and soft skills programme already in place.

Both roles would utilise the support of the education committee, a small group of council members who help source speakers, venues and host events. The roles themselves require the planning of all educational events through the year and holding regular meetings with the rest of the education committee and President. A report is also submitted ahead of each council meeting.

These roles would be some of the more time-consuming council roles, so anyone taking them on would need to ensure they would be able to dedicate time to them.

Treasurer Support role

We have a new Treasurer taking over in April, and we’d like to have someone to support this role both to assist in busy periods and also to for succession planning in the years to come. Tasks would be split as the Treasurer and Treasurer support see fit, with support from Council, but would include paying invoices, maintaining budgets and completing the annual returns.

This again is a time-consuming role, so anyone taking this on would need to ensure they could commit to it.

Examination Secretary Support role

Our long-standing master of exams is looking for someone to help organise the local written examination centre twice a year (each April and October) including sourcing of relevant venue, invigilation and overseeing operations.

Written exams are usually held in April and October, while multiple choice exams are held throughout the year.
