YMC Charity Quiz Night

Steam Bar & Restaurant
Thursday, 26 April 2018
6:30 pm – 9:30 pm (UK time)

22 teams joined our Quizmaster, Jon Hancock (Performance Management Director, Lloyd's), for this sold out event at Steam Bar & Restaurant to battle it out for the title of 'IIL YMC Charity Quiz Winner 2018' and raise much needed funds for The 999 Club.

A grand total of £2,168.75 was raised on the night; ticket proceeds, a well-supported raffle and generous donations from attendees all contributed to this fantastic amount. Attendees heard more about the charity's excellent work from Head of Fundraising, Andrew Mitchell, and Fundraising Officer, Elisa Smith. You can find out more about the charity and the work they do via their website: 999club.org

Thank you to all who made this event possible: Jon Hancock (Quizmaster), Steam Bar & Restaurant, the IIL Young Members' Committee, and last but by no means least, all who attended and supported the event so generously.

As Andrew from The 999 Club noted "It was an amazing night and I can't believe the energy, generosity and commitment to the homeless cause of your members."

A message from The 999 Club

With shortages in affordable housing and changes to benefits driving continual increases in homelessness, the number of homeless people on England's streets has now reached the highest levels since records began. At the 999 Club, we provide a warm welcome for people who are often ignored, isolated or stigmatised and empower them to gain the confidence, skills and support needed to transform their lives. Our experienced team deliver life-changing services which include:

  • The Gateway a day centre offering internet access, breakfast, showers and laundry
  • Advice & Support to help find and keep a home
  • Employability support to get work ready and find a job
  • Night Shelter a safe, warm and secure place to sleep
  • Learning & Activities workshops to gain qualifications and increase self-esteem
  • Personal Transition Service one-to-one support throughout the journey off the streets
  • Health & Wellbeing clinics hosted in our Gateway

The proceeds from this event (after event costs) were donated to The 999 Club (registered charity number 1091077).
