    • Dame Inga Beale ACII, CEO, Lloyd's (President, CII)
  • London Market

In this IIL London Market lecture, Lloyd's CEO & CII President, Inga Beale, talked about the impact of the fourth industrial revolution on the insurance sector, including the rapidly changing risk landscape fuelled by globalisation and unprecedented technological advancements like artificial intelligence and the internet of things.

The fourth industrial revolution has given rise to a more globalised, interconnected world that ever before. The digitalisation of everything has been transformational for business, with assets and infrastructure shifting from the physical to the intangible. The surge in use of digital technologies has driven us forward into an age of unprecedented connectivity. Data is now a globally traded currency and one of the most valuable assets in business. It has also given rise to artificial intelligence and advanced data science. In the face of this unprecedented change, the insurance sector must respond or face its own demise.

By the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into:

  • Understanding the challenges that the digital revolution brings to the insurance sector, and how Lloyd's is addressing them
  • Understanding the opportunities that advanced technology, like AI and big data, can have on the sector
