We are most excellent

Each year the CII assesses each of the 60 UK local Insurance Institutes. The purpose of the assessment is to measure all local institutes' performance across five key areas:

  • Governance
  • Continuing Professional Development
  • Representation and servicing of all member segments
  • Communication
  • Annual dinner, social events and charitable support.

The annual assessment is linked to the funding each institute receives annually from the CII, which we use to subsidise the education events that we hold. All of our social events are self-funding.

The assessment leads to the institute being allocated into one of four bands - excellent, good, fair and poor. Only five institutes achieved the band of "excellent" and I am very pleased to advise that the Insurance Institute of Guernsey was one of these institutes. This is an amazing achievement when you consider that we only have a membership of 369 whilst the average membership of the other four institutes in the "excellent" band is over 2,000 members.

Thank you to all members of the Council of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey past and present, to all of the local companies who support us through sponsorship (and donation of raffle prizes!), to all those who have recommended speakers and, most importantly, to all our members who participate in our events - without you this would not have been possible. Quite frankly, I am chuffed to bits.

See you at the next lunch and / or the quiz.

HUGE THANKS

Lou Jackson
