PFS & CII Teams Session - Menopause Matters: What Every Employer and Employee Should Know
Session Overview:
For years menopause has been a taboo topic that people are afraid to talk about, especially in the workplace. Yet it’s a natural phase that every person born female will go through. 3 out of 4 menopausal people will experience symptoms, with 1 in 4 having very problematic symptoms, so menopause can potentially impact everyone and should be a topic we all know about.
This session is suitable for anyone wanting to improve their understanding of this topic whether you are an employee, line manager or business owner, and regardless of gender, how it is a workplace issue and what you can do to support yourself or colleagues.
Learning objectives
In this session, we will cover:
- Why menopause is a workplace issue – we’ll take a brief look at the business, legal and moral cases for why this needs to be taken seriously by employers and employees
- Creating a menopause friendly workplace
- What the menopause is – what, why and when it can happen, common signs and symptoms and potential impacts
- Managing the menopause, signposting how and where to get help
