Welcome to the Insurance Institute of Bournemouth (IIB).

It is with immense pride and gratitude that I step into my second year as President of the IIB, this time for the 2025-26 term, and the institute’s 103rd year. Last year we raised awareness to the global threats to our industry and we discussed the evolving regulatory landscape. This year we would like to highlight the challenges within the advancements in technology (AI) and the ongoing market dynamics in a changing landscape.

Reflecting on the accomplishments of my first term, we have offered our CII, PFS and SMP members over 60 events, including 10 events aimed specifically at young professionals, but open to all. An impactful selection of networking, in-person and online CPD sessions, including regulatory compliance, exams preparation, technical knowledge and soft skills, such as Neurodiversity in the Workplace and Social Mobility. Some of the events we organised included tours of the iconic Lloyds of London and Insurance Landmarks in EC3 with the Insurance Museum, a Charity Golf Day, and our prestigious Annual Awards Dinner, introducing our first Achiever’s Awards through nominations.

My Council and I have collaborated with the Institutes of the South Region, marking our presence at the first CII Regional Conference last January in Bristol.  We ensured we engaged with the local community. We attended local school fairs, taking as many opportunities as we could to inspire the next generation to think about taking a rewarding career in financial planning and general insurance.
