Our Speakers

Iain Martin

Iain joined GS Insurance Services in 2009 to set up and run the new Risk Management consultancy which provides a bespoke service to clients giving them the appropriate level of assistance they require rather than try and shoe-horn them into an off the shelf package. Since its introduction 10 years ago the Risk Management team have become an integral part of the GS Group offering and remains unique in the Scottish Regional Broker market.

Iain started in the insurance industry in 1986 and quickly developed a keen interest in the technical aspects of insurance. Following numerous exams Iain achieved Chartered Insurance Broker Status as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 2005 and since then has gone on to pass the NEBOSH General, NEBOSH Construction and NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificates. Having this in-depth technical knowledge allows Iain to identify the hazards which a business could face and recommend practical control procedures to reduce the risks which may arise. Iain now has the designatory title of Chartered Insurance Risk Manager.

Throughout his career Iain has worked with a wide variety of clients from small self employed companies to one of the largest haulage contractors in Scotland and enjoys the diversity of challenges his role provides. He will work with clients to identify the risks faced by their individual businesses and create controls to minimise these risks as far as reasonably practicable. He does this by working closely with all levels within a business to ensure the safety culture is adopted and enacted in the right way.
