In this IIL inclusion & diversity lecture Paul Jardine explored what we mean when we speak about diversity. He concluded by looking at practical steps the market is taking to improve.

What do we mean when we talk about diversity? Do we always see the real picture? Paul will explore unconscious bias - the accidental, unintended, subtle and completely unconscious choices, made by everyone, all the time.

He examined the business case for diversity and inclusion and how the world is changing and why companies need to keep up. He also looked at practical steps the market is taking, using XL Catlin as a case study.

By the end of this lecture members would have gained an insight into:

  • The case for diversity providing the potential for greater innovation and performance
  • London Market D&I initiatives
  • Practical steps and progress XL Catlin is making

Speaker Bio:
In addition to being Chief Experience Officer at XL Catlin Paul is also CEO of Catlin Underwriting Agencies Limited and Catlin Insurance Company (UK) Limited. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries; a former Deputy Chairman of Lloyd’s and is the Chair of the London Market Group’s Talent and Diversity work stream

For events held in The Old Library, Lloyd's pass holders may also attend and do not need to register
