The Old Library, Lloyd's
Thursday, 20 April 2017
1:15 pm – 2:00 pm (UK time)
    • James Vickers, Chair, Willis Re International
  • Reinsurance

In this IIL reinsurance lecture James Vickers talked about the financial performance of the global reinsurance market in 2016.

James initially referred to Market conditions at 1 April 2017 and the still modest price softening, before he considered the financial performance of the reinsurance market. James undertook this by reference to the the findings of the Willis Re Reinsurance Market report, which looks at the industry results at Year-End 2016. James outlined the changes in traditional and non-traditional capital coming into the industry, and the pressures being faced.

By the end of this lecture members will have gained an insight into:

  • The size and performance of the global reinsurance market in 2016
  • Levels of traditional and non-traditional capital in the industry
  • The state of the current market pricing cycle
  • An insight into the underlying trends driving the market pricing
  • Market pressures
